Welcome to the company

Well guys, we've just had our first company meet up of the season and all seemed to go very well. I cycled over to the Blythe Hotel for seven o'clock where the meet up was for the first cast and crew of the company before we begin rehearsals for Body Language tomorrow morning. As always there is a mixture of new and old faces. This year we are pleased to welcome actors Harriet, Charlotte and Lee, and ASM also called Charlotte (we may need nick names to differentiate). Old faces and stalwarts back again include actors Michael, Clive, Claire, Richard, Darell is joining us tomorrow as he couldn't make it tonight, Rebecca our DSM and her boyfriend Will who's worked with us in the past, our set designers and props Tory and Polly (Who I apologise for not including in my last post as she had taken part in the get-in as well, sorry!), Miri our costume designer and her boyfriend Joe, Mark and Peter the company managers, Alan our carpenter and director for the first show Ron.


The evening was pretty laid back with a lot of dry banter being thrown about, particularly by Clive. Introductions can usually be awkward for some but this has always been a nice way to begin the season for a catch up and meeting new people who we will be working with over the summer. Sandwiches and Quiche were available to ear as well. I had eaten before I came out so I didn't need much. 
We start rehearsals tomorrow morning with a read through at ten.  I'll let you know how that goes!

What a year!

Hi everyone I haven't posted anything on here for over a year now and I thought now would be a good time to do so. I think we all agree this has been quite a challenging year for many of us, especially those who are in the arts as the pandemic has decimated the industry leaving millions out of work. For me, I was set to return to INK Festival again in spring, however, the lockdown announced meant that the festival couldn't happen this year sadly.  Having said that, my Dad and I took part in recording radio plays for INK this year as part of their two-minute monologue and duologue's which were broadcast on BBC Radio Suffolk and East Suffolk One . Keeping socially distanced and with little recording equipment we had at the time we recorded The Request, a two-minute play written by Philip Allum about a police sergeant answering a phone call to a man asking advice about where he could burgle his next house. Funny Money- Week Two Aldeburgh

Well guys this is it. The final week of Funny Money in Aldeburgh has come to an end as well as my duties as an ASM for this years season. Every day during the week happened more or less the same, we arrived at 6:30 to do pre set and ironing, Rebecca would give her calls, the half, quarter, five and beginners, then the show would go up at 8pm. On Tuesday Simon Snashall, an actor who had worked with us before in previous seasons, came to the show with Rosanna. Friday we were visited by the plays writer Ray Cooney and his wife Linda. After the show the cast and crew met them at Ye Olde Cross Keys where we all had a drink with them to talk about the show and learn a bit about Ray's acting career. Saturday was our final two shows. Unfortunately the suitcases didn't make it through to the end as the handles broke off so we had to gaffer one of them for the last show. INK OFF!!!

Hi guys! I'm back for another blog post. Six months have passed since I finished my work with Suffolk Summer Theatres and I am now about to start work with Ink Festival which I have been involved with for the past five years. Ink Festival, for those who do not know, is a new writing festival for emerging talent in East Anglia to have their work performed as either a play or film with the possibility to be developed. Throughout the year workshops are held for writers to learn how to hone their craft and develop scripts they have written lead by professionals in television, film, theatre and radio. Ink has been based at  The Cut  in Halesworth since the festival began five years ago and will be returning there again on April 12th, 13th, and 14th. Plays that have been performed at Ink have gone on tour at venues across East Anglia, the Pleasance Theatre in Islington, London, and have even been published.
