Body Language in Aldeburgh

Well guys we've just completed the run of Body Language in Aldeburgh, and I won't lie it's been a tough week. We've also completed rehearsing Funny Money which we open in Southwold on Monday. While that has been going on the other cast and crew had their run of A Daughters a Daughter in Southwold for a week. Because of our busy schedule this week our FOH manager Marianne of the Summer Theatre in Aldeburgh was able to do our show washing in for the week which we are incredibly grateful for!

Monday began with continuing rehearsals at the school. We went over sections of the play to fine tune and polish up what the actors have been doing. Rebecca occasionally had to prompt the actors if they had forgotten a line.
That evening the company gathered to attend the opening night of Agatha Christie’s A Daughters a Daughter. This time it’s our turn to sit in the audience and watch others perform.

The actors playing instruments at the end of rehearsals

On Tuesday we wrapped up rehearsals at 12:30 to drive to Aldeburgh to set up for the first night. When the cast arrived we all went through  The evening's performance went well with few errors occurring. There were drinks and nibbles in the courtyard afterwards.

Wednesday we had our last day of rehearsing in the school before packing up props and moving to the workshop.

Thursday was our first day in the workshop. We rehearsed until 2pm before setting off to Aldeburgh for a matinee.Watching in the audience this afternoon was Imogen Slaughter who has acted for us and Kate Dooley who has Stage Managed so we were visited by old friends. The heat backstage for both performances was unbearable which affected both cast and crews performance. St Felix this week has been like an oven.

Flats behind set of Funny Money in Workshop

Friday we continued to work through Funny Money doing a staggered run of the play on the set sorting out any difficulties the actors have.

Stormy Night

The operating desk Rebecca work on during the show in Aldeburgh

On Saturday morning Rebecca, Charlotte and I met up with Kate, Polly and Kitty at Cafe 51 for breakfast before we headed back to the Workshop for our final run of the play. After breakfast we parked outside the workshop and we got drenched in the rain as we walked in, we were not happy. After the run we packed props, dismantled the set then headed to Aldeburgh for the final two shows. During the last performance of the evening Charlotte and I began packing away props that were not used again into boxes ready to be taken away the next morning. After the shows Rebecca, Charlotte, I did the show washing and cleaned dressing rooms. Will arrived later on to help take down the questions lights and stayed over for the get out in the morning.
